NEET-UG Exam Results Under Scrutiny: High Scores Concentrated in Select Centers

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released detailed city- and centre-wise results for the NEET-UG exam. Analysis indicated irregularities such as paper leaks, showing some centres had disproportionate numbers of top-performing students. The Supreme Court is hearing petitions regarding these alleged malpractices, with some centres showing remarkably low performances amidst the controversy.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday released city- and centre-wise results of the NEET-UG medical entrance exam, which is under scrutiny for alleged irregularities, including paper leaks. Data analysis indicates that while beneficiaries of the purported paper leaks performed poorly overall, certain centres had unusually high concentrations of top-scoring students.

NTA officials have yet to address queries about specific centres showing high numbers of well-performing students. The extensive result data for over 32 lakh candidates from 4,750 centres was made available in a drop-down menu format, as directed by the Supreme Court. The top court is currently reviewing several petitions concerning the alleged irregularities.

Performance discrepancies were evident at specific centres, such as Oasis School in Jharkhand and Jay Jalaram International School in Gujarat. In contrast, other centres like the School of Engineering in Rajkot, Gujarat, showed a disproportionately high number of top scorers. More than 240 candidates from this centre scored above 600 marks, with 12 surpassing 700 out of 720.
