The Supreme Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Friday seeking nationwide implementation of virtual hearings and evening courts in district judiciaries.
A bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, emphasized the complexities of administration in India and the impracticality of a uniform directive for all district courts.
Highlighting ongoing initiatives like the E-courts project, the court noted that a significant budget of Rs 7000 crore has been allocated by the government to introduce cutting-edge technology in the judiciary.
