Rajasthan CM Flags Off First Pilgrimage Special Train Highlighting Cultural Heritage

He emphasized the importance of religious pilgrimages and highlighted state initiatives for faith tourism, including the Senior Citizen Tirth Yatra Yojana. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the first pilgrimage special train from Jaipur to Madurai and Rameshwaram at Durgapura Railway Station on Monday. Addressing the public, Sharma emphasized the significance of pilgrimages in preserving cultural heritage. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for safeguarding and developing cultural centers.
Sharma highlighted the state government's initiatives, like the Senior Citizen Tirth Yatra Yojana, enabling financially constrained citizens to embark on pilgrimages. This year, 36,000 pilgrims will travel to various sacred sites including Ayodhya and Kathmandu, with all expenses covered by the government, totaling an estimated Rs 80 crore.
Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat added that the state budget has earmarked funds for the development and decoration of religious sites, including Rs 13 crore for 600 temples during festivals, reaffirming the government's commitment to cultural preservation.
