India's automobile exports witnessed a notable upswing, rising 14% during the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam). The growth was primarily driven by robust passenger vehicle and two-wheeler shipments.
Data revealed that in the April-September period, exports climbed to 25,28,248 units, up from 22,11,457 units in the same period last year. This rebound was attributed to key markets such as Latin America and Africa recovering from previous slowdowns, said Siam President Shailesh Chandra.
Despite challenges like currency devaluations affecting African nations, passenger vehicle exports grew 12%, with Maruti Suzuki at the helm. Two-wheeler exports also rose, marking a 16% increase year-on-year, underscoring the resilience of India's auto industry.
