Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that his administration has achieved a historic recruitment milestone, appointing over one lakh youths throughout his tenure—a record unmatched by any government since Independence.
Speaking at a function where permanent appointment letters were distributed to 23,956 contractual and state pool teachers, Sarma highlighted that by next year, the government aims to provide jobs to another 50,000 youths.
The Chief Minister stated that despite earlier political promises from the BJP of one lakh government jobs annually in Assam, this figure was later adjusted to cover the entire five-year tenure. Sarma emphasized the government's success in crossing previous records and achieving significant milestones. He also mentioned upcoming appointments in various departments and commended the state's financial commitments toward teacher salaries and other educational initiatives.
