ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India (STT GDC India) has reached a landmark in its sustainability efforts by earning the IGBC Net Zero Energy (Operations) certification for its Bangalore DC3 facility. This makes it the first data centre in India to receive this accolade. Additionally, the Bangalore facility has secured IGBC Green Data Centre Platinum status, while the Chennai DC3 and Noida DC1 facilities have been awarded IGBC Gold status.

Presented at the CII IGBC DC Summit 2024, these recognitions celebrate STT GDC India's unyielding commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. Sumit Mukhija, Executive Director and CEO of STT GDC India, emphasized that these achievements reflect the company's dedication to sustainability. Mukhija remarked, 'Our IGBC Net Zero Energy certification, along with Platinum and Gold ratings, underscores our efforts to harmonize technological advancements with environmental goals.'

The IGBC Net Zero Energy certification indicates that Bangalore DC3 has net-zero carbon emissions annually, setting a new benchmark for energy efficiency in India. STT GDC India, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030, has sourced 48% of its energy from renewables in FY 2024 and enacted measures to reduce water consumption. These efforts align with the company's ESG strategy, targeting three goals: achieving carbon neutrality, providing a secure workplace, and maintaining ethical operations.

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable building practices. With 28 facilities across 10 cities and plans for expansion, STT GDC India is poised to support India's digital transformation through eco-friendly data centre services.
