Sterlite Power on Monday announced the strategic acquisition of Khavda IV C Power Transmission Ltd, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) designed to evacuate renewable energy from the significant Khavda RE park.

The Phase-IV transmission scheme aims to channel an additional 7 GW of renewable energy, with completion scheduled for 24 months post-SPV acquisition, according to the company's statement.

The acquisition, from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd, signifies Sterlite Power's ongoing expansion of green energy projects, marking its second venture in Gujarat and fifth overall in green energy evacuation.

Sterlite Power's Khavda Phase-IV (7GW) Part C project involves developing a sophisticated transmission system, including a 258 km, 765kV corridor connecting South Olpad (GIS) to Boisar-II (GIS), a 765/400/220kV substation at Boisar-II, and two LILO lines.

The infrastructure development, extending to major components like a 21 km, 400kV transmission corridor to Velgaon (GIS) and STATCOM systems implementation, underscores Sterlite's commitment to greener energy solutions. This project is set to bolster Maharashtra's energy infrastructure, particularly aiding the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune.

REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. coordinated the bid process, involving key industry players such as Sterlite Power, PGCIL, and Adani Transmission.
