Out of 102 Vande Bharat trains currently operational across India, 16 are dedicated to Maharashtra, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This information came in response to Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Omprakash Bhupalsinh alias Pavan Rajenimbalkar's inquiries in Lok Sabha.

Rajenimbalkar questioned the number of new Vande Bharat Express trains planned for Maharashtra. Vaishnaw stated that as of July 19, 2024, 16 Vande Bharat services cater to Maharashtra's stations. He emphasized that introducing new trains is a continual process based on various factors including traffic justification and resource availability.

Vaishnaw also touched upon the 'Bharat Gaurav Trains' policy, introduced in November 2021 to showcase India's cultural heritage. The railway minister mentioned production capabilities, noting that Vande Bharat coaches are manufactured in coach factories across India, with efforts underway to enhance production capacity significantly.
