Veteran sports administrator Randhir Singh is set to make history as the first Indian to be elected president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during its 44th General Assembly this Sunday.

Singh, a distinguished former shooter and member of a prominent sports family, will be officially named OCA president in the presence of Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and sports leaders from all 45 Asian countries. At 77, Singh has had an illustrious career, competing and winning medals in Asian and Commonwealth Games, and he served as secretary-general of the Indian Olympic Association from 1987 to 2012.

With a lifelong dedication to sports, Singh has held several significant positions including vice-chairman of the organizing committee for the Delhi Commonwealth Games and secretary-general of the OCA.
