New Bi-weekly Express Train Service Launched in Tamil Nadu
Union Minister L Murugan inaugurated a new bi-weekly Express train service between Tuticorin and Mettupalayam. The train will commence regular service on July 20, departing from Tuticorin on Thursdays and Saturdays, and from Mettupalayam on Fridays and Sundays. Various other services and train extensions were also announced.

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan flagged off a new bi-weekly Express train service connecting Tuticorin and Mettupalayam on Friday.
The regular passenger service for the Tuticorin–Mettupalayam–Tuticorin Bi-weekly Express is set to commence from July 20, with departures from Tuticorin at 10.50 pm on Thursdays and Saturdays, and arrivals at Mettupalayam at 7.40 am the following day.
The return trip will see departures from Mettupalayam at 7.35 am on Fridays and Sundays, arriving at Tuticorin at 4.20 am the next day, as per a release issued by Railways Chief Public Relations Officer Senthamil Selvan.
The inaugural event, which featured the participation of the Divisional Railway Manager of Salem Division, Pankaj Kumar Sinha, and other senior officials, also highlighted the extension and stoppage of several other services, including the Coimbatore–Mettupalayam MEMU services to Podanur Junction and a new stoppage for the Tirupati–Coimbatore–Tirupati Express at Samalpatti.
Additionally, Murugan flagged off an inaugural special train from Mayiladuthurai to Cuddalore Port via video conferencing, marking the extension of the Mysuru–Mayiladuturai–Mysuru Express to Cuddalore Port, and the introduction of daily service for the Mayiladuthurai–Tiruchirappalli–Mayiladuthurai Express.
