In a significant step towards peace, the central and Tripura governments, along with two insurgent groups, will sign an agreement on Wednesday, witnessed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The settlement aims to eradicate violence and bring long-lasting peace in the northeastern state.

Chief Minister Manik Saha and senior officials from both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Tripura government will be present at the Memorandum of Settlement signing ceremony. The agreement, involving the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), will be signed in New Delhi on September 4, according to an official statement.

The MHA's relentless efforts to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed, extremism-free Northeast were highlighted. Under PM Modi's leadership, 12 key agreements aimed at fostering peace and prosperity in the region have been inked, three of which concern Tripura. These agreements have encouraged approximately 10,000 individuals to renounce arms and join the mainstream.
