The British government has committed to supplying Ukraine with 650 lightweight multi-role missiles, valued at £162 million ($213.13 million). This aid aims to bolster Ukraine's defence against Russian drones and bombings.
The announcement was made by Defence Minister John Healey during the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting at a U.S. air base in Germany. The first batch of missiles is set for delivery by year-end, highlighting the UK's dedication to rapid aid deployment.
The Thales-made missiles, with a range exceeding 6 kilometres, can be launched from land, sea, and air platforms. This comes after Russia's recent massive airstrike, seen as the largest since the 2022 escalation, which targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure and claimed seven lives.
