One civilian lost their life and four others were injured due to Russian shelling overnight in Ukraine's Sumy region, which borders Russia, according to local Ukrainian authorities on Sunday. They reported 18 shellings and 47 explosions in the Sumy region during the night and early morning.

The administration disclosed that nine districts were targeted. Separately, Ukraine's air force claimed to have destroyed eight out of eleven Russian attack drones used overnight.

The air force statement highlighted that the latest attacks targeted Ukrainian grain and logistics infrastructure in Mykolaiv and Sumy regions. Notably, the Sumy region is adjacent to Russia's Kursk region, the site of a significant cross-border incursion by Ukrainian forces on Aug. 6. Concurrently, Russian troops continued their advance towards the strategic eastern Ukrainian hub of Pokrovsk.
