Veteran NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, initially launched into space on Boeing's Starliner, will now return to Earth via a SpaceX vehicle. This decision follows NASA's assessment of the Starliner's propulsion system issues, deeming them too risky for the astronauts' return.

The astronauts, originally scheduled for an eight-day mission aboard the International Space Station, will have their journey extended until early next year. This extended stay is necessary to secure a safe return, as NASA pivots to SpaceX for the astronauts' homecoming.

In parallel, SpaceX is preparing for a landmark achievement with the first private spacewalk. A team including a billionaire entrepreneur, a retired military pilot, and two SpaceX employees will test novel equipment in one of the company's most daring missions yet.
