Superintendent of Police Vikrant Veer stated that the Additional Sessions Judge, Pratham Kant, handed down the sentence to Gautam, 23, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 on the convict. According to the prosecution, the accused had repeatedly raped the girl over an eight-month period, leading to the lodging of an FIR at Bhimpura police station. The investigation revealed that the accused had threatened the victim to keep silent about the abuse.

The FIR included sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to rape and criminal intimidation. This conviction brings a measure of justice for the young survivor while highlighting the legal provisions designed to protect children from such heinous crimes.
