Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Raping 12-Year-Old Girl

A court sentenced Gautam, 23, to 25 years' imprisonment under the POCSO Act for raping a 12-year-old girl three years ago. The sentencing was handed down by Additional Sessions Judge Pratham Kant. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 on the convict. The case was registered under sections of the IPC for rape and criminal intimidation.

A court here sentenced a man to 25 years' imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old girl three years ago, officials said on Friday. Superintendent of Police Vikrant Veer stated that the Additional Sessions Judge, Pratham Kant, handed down the sentence to Gautam, 23, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 on the convict. According to the prosecution, the accused had repeatedly raped the girl over an eight-month period, leading to the lodging of an FIR at Bhimpura police station. The investigation revealed that the accused had threatened the victim to keep silent about the abuse.

The FIR included sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to rape and criminal intimidation. This conviction brings a measure of justice for the young survivor while highlighting the legal provisions designed to protect children from such heinous crimes.
