Rajendra Pal Gautam, a former minister in the Delhi government, officially resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and joined Congress on Friday. He alleged that the AAP discriminates against Dalit and minority leaders.
Moments after his resignation, Gautam joined Congress at the party's headquarters, compiling a new chapter in his political career. He also stepped down as the AAP MLA representing the reserved Seemapuri Assembly constituency.
In his resignation letter to AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Gautam criticized the party for being 'weak and helpless' before the BJP on critical issues like caste census and reservations. He expressed his disappointment at the lack of social justice and equality within AAP.
