Union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia chaired a productive meeting with the advisory committee of telecom operators on Friday, urging them to take the lead in developing 6G technology.
According to sources present at the session, telecom operators reiterated their long-standing demands for easing right of way permits, rationalizing power tariffs, and lowering industry levies.
Scindia shared on social media platform X that the meeting covered discussions on service quality, India's 6G vision, and promoting research and development to elevate the telecommunications sector. Senior officials including Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal, and Digital Communications Commission member (Finance) Manish Sinha, along with industry leaders such as Reliance Jio's Pankaj Pawar and Vodafone Idea's Akshaya Moondra, attended the meeting. Notably, issues concerning over-the-top players were not addressed.
