The inaugural Kolkata Padel Open, hosted from December 27-29 at The Padel Club, concluded triumphantly, highlighting exceptional skill and community spirit. The event featured over 125 players competing in nearly 200 matches across men's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles, and junior doubles, establishing Kolkata as an emerging hub for Padel in India.
Nilesh Bansal, co-founder of The Padel Club, expressed satisfaction with the successful event, remarking that it exceeded all expectations. He highlighted the vibrant matches and enthusiastic participants and spectators, marking the event as the birth of the Padel community in Kolkata. The tournament crowned champions in all categories, with thrilling matches, including a dramatic victory by Divyang Kumar in the men's singles final.
The junior doubles category witnessed inspiring performances by the youthful champions, Vir Beri and Raghavendra Thirani. Additionally, the tournament recognized 'Emerging Local Talent,' awarding 10 promising players with Padel racquets and bags.
