Heightened Security Measures for Bodo/Glimt vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv Match
Security in Bodo will be significantly heightened for the Europa League match between Bodo/Glimt and Maccabi Tel-Aviv due to prior unrest involving Maccabi fans. The decision comes after incidents in Amsterdam led to hospitalizations and a temporary ban on demonstrations following the match against Ajax.
Bodo is set to see heightened security ahead of the Europa League clash between Bodo/Glimt and Maccabi Tel-Aviv, local police have confirmed. The increase comes in response to violent incidents involving Maccabi fans in Amsterdam, which saw five people hospitalized post-match.
Amsterdam's city authorities enacted a three-day demonstration ban following attacks on Maccabi supporters by groups shouting anti-Israeli slurs. Riot police were called in, and some Maccabi fans were seen pulling down Palestinian flags while chanting anti-Arab slogans.
Deputy Chief of Staff in the Nordland Police District, Cathrin Nerhus Lewin, stated that resource allocation would include visible street presence and intelligence efforts. Bodo/Glimt will face Maccabi at the Aspmyra Stadium on Jan. 23, with Maccabi's prior engagement against Besiktas set for a neutral venue on Nov. 28.
