In a bid to secure the upcoming by-election in the PB-8 constituency, the Balochistan Home Department has requested the Ministry of Interior to suspend mobile phone services in the Sibi and Kachhi districts on November 13 and 14. This request aims to bolster the security and integrity of the electoral process.
The by-election is set for November 14, following the demise of Sardar Sarfaraz Chakar Domki, a prominent figure in Balochistan's political landscape. Precautionary measures by the Balochistan Home Department include the proposed suspension of services from the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), although the Ministry of Interior has yet to make a decision.
Domki, the late municipal minister and chief of the Domki tribe, passed away on October 17 in Karachi after a prolonged illness. As a candidate from the Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarians (PPP-P), he previously secured more than 27,000 votes in the PB-8 constituency, marking his significant influence in the region.
