In response to a chilling incident at Kalaignar Centenary Hospital, where a doctor was brutally attacked by the son of a cancer patient, Chennai Police are vigorously reviewing security protocols. Police Commissioner A Arun, upon visiting the hospital, reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of doctors and other healthcare workers.
Commissioner Arun stated, "We have come to review the security arrangements. Discussions with officials are ongoing to determine the necessary measures to ensure doctors' safety. As this is the first incident of such nature, we are conducting a thorough review and will provide further updates." The suspect had frequented the hospital for his mother's treatment, and officials hinted at possible drug use as a contributing factor.
The Tamil Nadu Resident Doctors Association (TNRDA) has vehemently condemned the attack, underscoring the dire safety threats faced by the medical community.
