South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada set a new benchmark by claiming his 300th test wicket, decimating Bangladesh for a mere 106 runs during the first innings on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Rabada's impressive achievement came in just 11,187 balls, surpassing Pakistani legend Waqar Younis' previous record of 12,602 deliveries. At the close of play on the opening day, South Africa led by 34 runs with a score of 140-6, as 16 wickets fell in a tough day for batsmen.

The test in Dhaka marks the first of a two-match series. South African bowlers, including all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and spinner Keshav Maharaj, played pivotal roles in dismantling the Bangladeshi lineup.
