The announcement comes ahead of a possible meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the BRICS summit in Russia. The agreement, disclosed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, marks a resolution to tensions that have simmered since 2020.
With this agreement, both Indian and Chinese troops can resume their pre-standoff patrolling, a move described by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar as a 'good development.' It underscores the successful outcome of patient and persevering diplomacy between the two nations.
