In anticipation of the annual Sabarimala pilgrimage season starting mid-November, Kerala Health Minister Veena George has assured a significant upgrade in medical facilities for pilgrims. This includes providing cath labs, emergency medical centres, and oxygen parlours along the pilgrimage route.

The Konni Medical College in Pathanamthitta district will function as a base hospital, accompanied by necessary facilities as promised by the Health Minister during a recent high-level meeting. Additionally, the Pathanamthitta General Hospital will receive emergency cardiology treatment capabilities and cath lab setups.

Specialized doctors from the Health and Medical Education Departments will be deployed, with comprehensive medical infrastructure at critical locations like Sannidhanam, Pamba, and Nilakkal. The improved facilities will include defibrillators, ventilators, and full-fledged lab support to cater to any medical emergencies that may arise during the pilgrimage season.
