Anthony McGrath has been appointed as the new men's head coach for Yorkshire, taking over from former West Indies cricketer Ottis Gibson. McGrath, a former England all-rounder, returns to his home county with a five-year contract, following his coaching success at Essex.
Having retired in 2013, McGrath began his coaching career at Yorkshire before moving to Essex, where he assisted Chris Silverwood in securing a County Championship win in 2017. Progressing to head coach, he led Essex to multiple victories, including a Championship and T20 Blast double in 2019 and the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020.
Now, McGrath faces the task of overseeing Yorkshire's return to Division One, starting November 1. Despite challenges faced due to a racism scandal, McGrath expresses excitement about the opportunity and is determined to lead Yorkshire to success, motivated by the club's rich history and passionate supporters.
