Maharashtra Steps Up Textile Development with New Initiatives

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken decisive action to propel the state's textile sector forward. On Monday, he outlined plans to set up Maharashtra Technical Textile Mission (MTTM) and Maharashtra State Textile Development Corporation (MSTDC), positioning the state as a key player in the forthcoming Bharat Tex 2025 event in New Delhi.

During a review of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department's 100-day action plan, Fadnavis emphasized the launch of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for technical textile parks. He highlighted the necessity of the Captive Market Scheme to support local industries and announced an old-age pension scheme for handloom weavers.

Fadnavis also proposed the establishment of 'Urban Haat' centres under the Integrated and Sustainable Textile Policy 2023-28 to back handloom artisans. He encouraged collaborations with Prasar Bharati for broadcasting initiatives and underscored the adoption of solar energy for spinning mills across Maharashtra.
