Four Arrested in Gujarat's Political Defamation Case

Four individuals were arrested in Amreli, Gujarat, for allegedly attempting to defame BJP MLA Kaushik Vekariya using fake documents. The plot was orchestrated by BJP worker Manish Vaghasiya, who aimed to harm Vekariya and panchayat president Kishor Kanpariya's reputations for political gain. The accused face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act.

In a high-profile political scandal, four individuals have been detained in Gujarat's Amreli district on allegations of attempting to tarnish the image of local BJP MLA Kaushik Vekariya through social media fraud. Senior police official Sanjay Kharat revealed details of the conspiracy on Monday.

The operation was reportedly spearheaded by BJP worker Manish Vaghasiya, who forged letterheads, signatures, and stamps of Kishor Kanpariya, president of Amreli taluka panchayat, in a bid to disseminate defamatory content about Vekariya. Vaghasiya harbored resentment against both Vekariya and Kanpariya, believing they impeded his ambition to become the BJP's Amreli taluka president.

Helping in the execution, computer operator Payal Goti aided in creating and circulating the falsified documents via social media. The scheme allegedly extended to BJP sarpanch Ashok Mangroliya and Jeetu Khatra, who distributed the deceitful PDF file despite awareness of its inauthenticity. The group faces multiple charges, including forgery and defamation, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act, following a formal complaint by Kanpariya on December 27th.
