Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has intensified its efforts against illegal immigration, arresting nine Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India without valid documentation. These individuals were apprehended in a coordinated operation with local police across Mumbai, Nashik, Nanded, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar over the past four days.
This move is part of an ongoing special drive that led to 43 arrests in just the past month, highlighting the pressing issue of undocumented migration in the region. Authorities revealed that the arrested individuals managed to obtain Aadhaar cards using forged documents, underscoring the challenges in combating identity fraud.
Legal proceedings have been initiated with five cases registered under the Foreigners Act and other related statutes. Officials remain vigilant as they continue their crackdown on such activities to maintain security and order in the state.
