Top seeds Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek continued to dominate the U.S. Open, marching into the quarter-finals with minimal fuss. Sinner overcame a spirited effort from Tommy Paul to win 7-6(3) 7-6(5) 6-1 in a thrilling fourth-round contest. Swiatek, meanwhile, cruised past Liudmila Samsonova 6-4 6-1 on the Arthur Ashe Stadium showcourt.
Sinner will now face 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev, whom he beat to claim his lone Grand Slam title in January. Swiatek, the 2022 champion, said she's gaining momentum as the tournament progresses. American Jessica Pegula also advanced, disposing of Diana Shnaider 6-4 6-2 to reach the last eight without dropping a set.
The day also saw Karolina Muchova oust fifth seed Jasmine Paolini, and British player Jack Draper become the first man since Andy Murray to reach the U.S. Open quarter-finals. Alex de Minaur also moved into the last eight, continuing a strong showing from Australian players.
