Zheng Qinwen defeated Croatian Donna Vekic 7-6(2) 4-6 6-2 in a rematch of their Paris Olympics title clash, securing a spot in the U.S. Open quarter-finals. The match, held at Arthur Ashe Stadium, concluded at 2:15 a.m. on Monday, setting a new record for the latest finishing women's match in the tournament's history.

'It's always nice to play in the night session because I'm used to it ... It's the first time I've played here in New York at two in the morning. It's unbelievable,' said Zheng, expressing gratitude to the fans for their late-night support.

China's Zheng is aiming to become the fourth woman to win both Olympic gold and the U.S. Open title in the same year, following Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Steffi Graf. She will face Aryna Sabalenka next. Zheng clinched an intense opening set in an hour and overcame Vekic's challenge to secure victory after three gripping sets.
