Indian Para Shooters Miss Finals at Paris Paralympics; India Celebrates Medal Wins

Star Indian para shooters Avani Lekhara and Sidhartha Babu did not qualify for the finals of the Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 event at the ongoing Paris Paralympics on Sunday. Avani secured 11th place with 632.8 points, while Sidhartha finished 28th with 628.3 points, both showing an average performance.

The top eight shooters advanced to the final round, with Slovakia's Veronika Vadovicova leading the qualification with 637.8 points. Spain's Juan Antonio Saavedra Reinaldo and Ukraine's Iryna Shchetnik secured second and third places with 637.3 and 636.9 points respectively.

Despite this setback, India has secured five medals in the Paris Paralympics, including one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. Rubina earned a bronze in the P2-Women's 10M Air Pistol SH-1 on Saturday, while reigning champion Avani Lekhara won gold in the women's 10m air rifle event. Shooter Mona Agarwal bagged bronze in the same event, and Manish Narwal secured a silver in the men's P1 10 m air pistol SH1 competition. Preethi Pal secured a bronze in the women's T35 100m race.
