Odisha Declares School Holiday for PM Modi’s Visit

The Odisha government has announced a holiday for schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar on September 17, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to launch the 'SUBHADRA' scheme. The initiative aims to benefit over 1 crore women, providing financial support over five years.

The Odisha government has announced a holiday for all schools and colleges in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state. PM Modi's agenda includes launching 'SUBHADRA,' a flagship women-centric scheme by the Government of Odisha, in Bhubaneswar.

According to the Chief Minister's Office, Odisha, "All schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar will remain closed on September 17th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Subhadra Yojana in Bhubaneswar, which will be accompanied by a significant public gathering. Consequently, the state government has also decided that government offices will be closed for the first half of the day," said an official.

The Prime Minister's Office elaborated that the 'SUBHADRA' scheme aims to support over 1 crore women aged between 21-60 years, by providing Rs. 50,000/- over five years, credited directly to their bank accounts. On this historic occasion, PM Modi will initiate fund transfers to over 10 lakh women beneficiaries.

In addition, the Prime Minister will distribute the first instalment of assistance to approximately 13 lakh beneficiaries under the PMAY-G scheme, affecting around 14 states. The programme will include Griha Pravesh celebrations for 26 lakh beneficiaries nationwide. PM Modi will also launch the Awaas+ 2024 App for surveying additional households under PMAY-G.

The event will further include the launch of the Operational Guidelines for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0. (ANI)
