Manchester United has confirmed the acquisition of Manuel Ugarte from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, with the Uruguay international signing a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029. The deal includes an option to extend for a further year.

The Red Devils reportedly paid an initial fee of £42 million for the midfielder, a figure that could rise to £50.7 million based on performance-related add-ons. Ugarte was identified as Manchester United's primary target to bolster their midfield, filling the gap left by Scott McTominay's move to Napoli.

Last season, the 23-year-old achieved a league and cup double with PSG and played every game in the Copa America for Uruguay, earning a place in the tournament's team. He has 22 international caps. Commenting on his move, Ugarte expressed excitement about joining Manchester United, citing the club's magnitude and ambitious project. Sporting director Dan Ashworth hailed Ugarte as one of the world's best ball-winning midfielders, adding that his qualities and experience would greatly benefit the team.
