Brighton has further bolstered its promising Premier League season by acquiring Denmark midfielder Matt O'Riley from Celtic on Monday.
The 23-year-old O'Riley has committed to a five-year deal extending through the 2028-29 season, although Brighton has not disclosed the transfer fee, it is reported to be approximately 25 million pounds ($33 million). "He enjoys getting forward and attacking the opponent's penalty area, but he also has a good defensive instinct," said Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler. "That balance makes him special."
With this transfer, Brighton joins the exclusive club of teams, including Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool, that have begun the Premier League season with consecutive wins. O'Riley played a vital role in Celtic's three consecutive Scottish league titles and has experience representing England at youth and Under-21 levels before opting to play for Denmark, the native country of his mother.
