The Supreme Court stressed the importance of restraint from those in high office as it heard a plea to transfer the 2015 cash-for-vote trial involving Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to Bhopal. The apex court's remarks came amid Reddy's controversial comments on rival BRS leader K Kavitha.
On August 30, Reddy expressed 'unconditional regret' for his remarks, reaffirming his faith in the judiciary on social media. The court had previously rebuked Reddy, warning that such statements could undermine public confidence in judicial institutions.
The trial's transfer was requested by senior advocate C A Sundaram due to Reddy's home portfolio control. The Supreme Court has ordered responses to an interlocutory application and set the next hearing for two weeks later.
