Barcelona has loaned out French defender Clément Lenglet for the third consecutive season, this time to La Liga rival Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid announced on Monday that they have secured Lenglet's services until the end of the season, including the revamped 32-team Club World Cup scheduled for mid-June to July in the United States. Atletico qualified for the tournament while Barcelona did not.
Lenglet, a Barcelona player since 2018, spent the previous two seasons on loan in the Premier League with Tottenham and Aston Villa. He played 14 matches for Aston Villa last season, contributing to their fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification.
Both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will learn their fates in the Champions League draw on Thursday in Monaco, set to feature a new 36-team, single-league format starting next month.
