Following a disappointing 10-wicket loss against Bangladesh in the first Test, Pakistan captain Shan Masood admitted that his team made numerous errors in Rawalpindi. The defeat marks a challenging start for Pakistan in the two-game series.

During the post-match press conference, Masood mentioned that they rushed their declaration due to weather concerns. 'We had the weather in mind and pushed on for declaration. If you ask me now, we would have liked another 50-100 runs, which could have kept us in the game. But as a team, we made a lot of mistakes over the 4 days and Bangladesh were worthy winners,' Masood stated.

Masood further noted that the pitch was not entirely docile and had enough for the seamers, but Pakistan's bowlers missed opportunities. 'Over the 4 days, I don't think the pitch was docile. It had enough for the seamers. However, they played very disciplined cricket. In the end, we gave them a few chances when Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim were batting,' he added.

The Test match in Rawalpindi had a wet outfield start, reducing the first day's play to just 41 overs, where Bangladesh gained an upper hand by securing four wickets. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel brought Pakistan back on Day 2 with centuries, Rizwan's unbeaten 171 being particularly resilient. Pakistan declared at 448/6, pushing for a result.

Bangladesh's reply saw Mushfiqur Rahim (191) and Shadnam Islam (93) excel, forcing Pakistan to toil on Day 4. Starting Day 5 at 23/1, Pakistan collapsed for 146, only Rizwan showing resistance with a half-century. Bangladesh's spinners, led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, secured the easy chase of 30 runs within seven overs.

This victory gave Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the Test series.
