Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has mandated the removal of the DDA's Yamuna Sports Complex secretary due to the allegedly appalling state of the stadium's maintenance.

Following his recent visit to the sports complex in east Delhi, Saxena ordered a complete facelift of the iconic site. He highlighted 'apathy and neglect' in maintaining the stadium, which formerly hosted archery and table tennis events during the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The LG aims to restore the complex to its former glory and transform it into a premier sporting arena and a self-sustaining recreational destination for east Delhi residents.

Saxena also proposed the development of an unused building near the complex's entrance as a clubhouse. Additionally, he suggested converting an open two-acre space along the boundary into a venue for community functions. These projects aim to create recreational spaces for locals and generate funds for the complex's maintenance and improvement. The LG has set a two-month deadline for these projects and called for the inclusion of world-class sporting facilities and equipment, particularly for archery, to foster a conducive environment for elite athletes.
