Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden has heaped praise on young Indian top-order batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal for his exceptional strokeplay but issued a caution about the challenges he will face from Australia's formidable pace trio during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year. The much-anticipated series kicks off with the first Test at Perth Stadium from November 22 to 26, setting the stage for a gripping contest.

Speaking at the CEAT Cricket Awards in Mumbai, Hayden described Jaiswal as a 'package' and expressed eagerness to see how the young talent adapts to the bouncy Australian tracks. "Yes, his stroke-play is superb. His ability to hit on the up through the covers is phenomenal. However, that also comes with vulnerabilities. I'm keen to see how he adjusts on bouncy tracks," said Hayden.

Jaiswal, who has scored 1028 runs and achieved three centuries from nine Test matches, stands as a promising talent. However, Hayden warned that the Australian pace attack, featuring Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, will pose significant challenges. "Youngster Jaiswal won the best Test batter of the year in the awards ceremony on Wednesday following his stellar performance against England. But facing world-class pace bowlers on much larger grounds where perfect contact is required will be a different challenge," Hayden explained. The series will see further thrilling contests at venues including Adelaide Oval, The Gabba, Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Sydney Cricket Ground, culminating on January 7.
