Ronak Dahiya emerged as the sole Indian Greco Roman wrestler to advance to the semifinals of the U17 World Championships, which began on Monday.
Competing in the 110kg category, Dahiya kicked off his campaign with a resounding 8-1 victory over Artur Manvelian, and solidified his position with a dominant technical superiority win against Daniil Maslakou.
Trained at Delhi's renowned Chhatrasal Stadium, Dahiya is set to face Hungary's Zoltan Czako next. Elsewhere, Nishant Phogat (80kg) secured a 7-1 win against Algeria's Mohamed Abadi in the Qualification round but was later defeated by Moldova's Nichita Apostol. Competitors Bikash Kachhap (48kg) has exited the tournament, while Anuj (65kg) and Samrath Gajanan (55kg) await semifinal results to determine their standing.
