Last year, India emerged victorious in the tournament's inaugural edition held in South Africa, defeating England. In this year's competition, Group B consists of England, Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA. South Africa, New Zealand, Samoa, and an African qualifier make up Group C, while Group D features Australia, Bangladesh, Scotland, and an Asian qualifier.

The tournament structure involves a round-robin phase where each team plays three matches within its group. The top three teams from each group advance to the Super Six stage. Here, the 12 qualifying teams are re-sorted into two new groups, with the top two from each advancing to the semifinals on January 31, and the final slated for February 2 at Bayuemas Oval. Reserve days are provided for both the semifinals and the final.
