Marketa Vondrousova, the 2023 Wimbledon champion, and Cam Norrie have both pulled out of the U.S. Open as of Friday due to injuries.

Vondrousova, ranked 18th, is out with a hand injury while Norrie, ranked 47th, is sidelined by a forearm problem.

The 25-year-old Czech star, Vondrousova, who claimed her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last year and was the runner-up at the 2019 French Open, also won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She has not played since a first-round loss at Wimbledon in July, making her the first woman since 1994 to lose her opening match after winning the title the previous year.

Petra Martic is set to replace Vondrousova in the women's draw, while Francisco Comesana will take Norrie's spot in the men's bracket for the year's last Grand Slam tournament.

The draw for the U.S. Open is scheduled for next Thursday, with play commencing on August 26.
