Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines following a leg injury sustained in training. The 21-year-old Norwegian will undergo surgery on Friday and is expected to be out for three to four months, manager Pep Guardiola has announced.
Guardiola expressed his disappointment for Bobb, noting that despite his impressive pre-season, the focus is on his recovery. Bobb was anticipated to be a starter on the right wing for the upcoming season. City's Premier League campaign begins against Chelsea on Sunday, without Bobb and defensive midfielder Rodri, who also won't play due to a late return from the European Championship.
In other team updates, Guardiola mentioned that midfielder Kalvin Phillips is close to sealing a loan move to Ipswich. Bobb had grabbed attention during City's preseason tour in the United States and played a significant role in the Community Shield win over Manchester United.
