Chelsea has opted to move on from English defender Ben Chilwell, potentially sending him on loan to Turkey, as reported by The Telegraph. The 27-year-old defender was linked with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge during the recent window and could join Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce.

Chilwell can only move to Turkey until the transfer window closes on September 18. According to Goal.com, if the move doesn't materialize, he will have to continue training away from Chelsea's first team for at least four months until the January window opens. Despite connections to Mourinho's Fenerbahce, Chelsea has yet to receive a formal offer from any Turkish Super Lig club.

The likelihood of Chilwell moving on a loan deal remains high, given his £200,000-a-week wages. Chelsea aims for a permanent release, but clubs are hesitant to offer such deals. Thus, a loan appears the most viable option.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has secured four points from the first three Premier League games and will face Bournemouth on September 14 after the international break. Recently, Raheem Sterling joined Arsenal on a season-long loan after submitting a deal sheet beyond the transfer deadline.

The Premier League transfer window closed on August 30, but clubs had two extra hours to complete deals with a submitted deal sheet. Sterling, who featured in every pre-season game, was unexpectedly excluded from the squad by Maresca for the Premier League opener against Manchester City. (ANI)
