Sri Lanka's Praveen Jayawickrama faces serious allegations from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Charged with multiple counts, Jayawickrama allegedly failed to report approaches to participate in match-fixing and obstructed ongoing investigations by deleting crucial messages.

According to the ICC, Jayawickrama did not promptly inform the Anti-Corruption Unit about a proposal to fix international matches or an attempt to involve another player in corrupt activities during the 2021 Lanka Premier League. The ICC, in conjunction with Sri Lanka Cricket, has decided to tackle both charges simultaneously.

The left-arm spinner, known for his remarkable 6/92 debut performance against Bangladesh, now has a 14-day window, starting from August 6, 2024, to respond to these charges. Jayawickrama's cricketing record includes five Test matches with 25 wickets, five ODIs with five wickets, and he has also participated in five T20 Internationals.
