The Covelong Classic, the final national surfing championship of 2024, kicks off on Thursday in spectacular fashion. This grand event will see participation from over 75 surfers from across the nation, competing for top honors in Men's Open, Women's Open, Junior Boys & U-16, and Junior Girls & U-16 categories.

Surf Turf will host this three-day surfing extravaganza, which marks the end of the 2024 surfing season. The season began with the International Surfing Festival Kerala Varkala, followed by the Indian Open of Surfing in Mangalore, and the Mahabs Point Break Challenge in Mahabalipuram. Now, the series culminates in the eagerly anticipated Covelong Classic, organized by the Tamil Nadu Surfing Association under the Surfing Federation of India (SFI).

The Tamil Nadu Government and the Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports Development have lent significant support to the event. Top surfers like Ajeesh Ali, Srikanth D, Harish M, and Ramesh Budihal will compete in the Men's Open category, while Kamali P, ranked first, will look to dominate the Women's Open category. The event will also feature prominent local talents in the Junior Boys and U-16 categories. Participants will compete for medals, trophies, and cash prizes, with additional excitement provided by DJ performances from local bands.
