The Indian contingent for the Parade of Nations at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony includes 78 athletes and officials from 12 disciplines. This grand event is set to take place on Friday at 11 pm IST. Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and Chef-de-Mission Gagan Narang have focused on prioritizing athletes for the Parade of Nations.

All available athletes will participate in the parade. Some athletes have opted out to prepare for competitions starting on Saturday, a decision respected by the IOA. Star shuttler PV Sindhu and veteran table tennis player Sharath Kamal will be the flag-bearers for India.

Both athletes will be the first from their respective sports to hold this honor at such a prestigious event. Ahead of the opening ceremony, India has already made a mark with its men's and women's archery teams qualifying for the quarter-finals. India's contingent, consisting of 117 athletes, looks forward to their first medal opportunity during the mixed team air rifle matches on July 27 at the National Shooting Centre in Chateauroux.

Prominent athletes from various disciplines include Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai in Archery, PV Sindhu in Badminton, Lovlina Borgohain in Boxing, and several others across Hockey, Judo, and Tennis, representing India.
