Polish authorities are conducting an investigation into potentially radioactive substances discovered in around 50 containers located in a residential building in Siedlec, a village in western Poland. The authorities confirmed there is no need for evacuation at this moment.

Firefighters from the chemical threat unit responded to a police call on Friday morning regarding these substances. Firefighters' spokesperson Martin Halasz stated that the materials were found in a residential property featuring a garage, and there are indications that the substances could include radium. Ongoing investigations are determining whether other radioactive materials are present.

Wojciech Adamczyk, a local police spokesperson, said the substances were stored in small glass and plastic bottles and jars. While the substances exhibited signs of radioactivity, the concentrations did not pose a risk to human life or health. Authorities are working to identify the substances and ascertain the legality of their possession.
