Duncan Scott has amassed significant accolades since being labeled a 'loser' by disgraced Chinese swimmer Sun Yang at the 2019 World Championships.

The comment, following Scott and Australian Mack Horton's refusal to share the podium with Sun, has turned into an ironic badge of honor for Britain's most decorated Olympic swimmer. Now set for his third Olympic Games in Paris, the 27-year-old Scott is eager for his first individual gold, adding to his six previous Olympic medals.

Sun, who was banned for doping, won't compete. Scott will face tough competition from Olympic champion Wang Shun and world record holder Pan Zhanle from China, still shadowed by doping controversies. French swimmer Leon Marchand, who shattered Michael Phelps' 400 IM world record, is another formidable rival. Scott notes, "I've never beaten him, but racing alongside him was motivating."

Under the guidance of Phelps' ex-coach Bob Bowman, Marchand has bagged golds in multiple events. Scott's recent achievements include silver in the 200 IM at Fukuoka, following wins at Tokyo and Rio.

With an open mind towards his upcoming races, Scott believes he can still improve. He stated, "At 27, I feel young in the sport and motivated to see how far I can go."
