Cyclonic Stir: Brace for Bay of Bengal Storm Impact
A developing low-pressure system in the east-central Bay of Bengal may intensify into a cyclonic storm, potentially hitting the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal. The Met office predicts heavy rainfall starting October 23, with wind speeds possibly reaching up to 120 kmph, warning fishermen to avoid the sea.

The anticipation of a cyclonic storm surging from the east-central Bay of Bengal has brought a stern warning to coastal regions. According to the Met office, the storm is expected to strike the Odisha and West Bengal coasts by October 24, resulting in heavy rainfall over several South Bengal districts starting October 23.
In light of the impending storm, fishermen have been advised to stay away from the sea from October 23 to 25. Winds are expected to increase in velocity, touching 60 kmph initially, and escalating to a potential 120 kmph by October 24 night through to the morning of October 25.
Regions particularly vulnerable to heavy downpours include East and West Midnapore, South 24 Parganas, and Jhargram, with Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, Purulia, and Bankura also warned of significant rainfall during the period.
